Southern Indiana Rivalry Weekend
Indiana high school basketball is in full swing, and the rivalries are alive! This weekend Southern Indiana Sports Network will be providing coverage on two games. The first game tonight, the 8-3 Springs Valley Blackhawks at the 6-4 Paoli Rams. Tomorrow we’ll be taking a trip to Barr-Reeve for the Buggy Bowl! The 13-1 North Daviess Cougars travel to the 9-6 Barr Reeve Vikings. It’s Southern Indiana Rivalry Weekend. Keep reading for our predictions for each game, and your chance to vote for who you think will win.
The Blackhawks have the better record and the better strength of schedule, so by the fact alone they should come out as the clear winners. But I think we may have a surprise in store from Paoli. Paoli has been in a slight funk lately, having trouble finding their stride. I think they find it tonight. These two schools didn’t get to play their football game this year, and there’s a lot of pent-up aggression because of it. Tonight, is going to be a rough, physical game between two physical schools. I’ve already ruffled up the Blackhawk’s Pep Club’s feathers, so they can stand to be upset a little longer. Paoli wins. 65-61.
Honestly, this is a tough one to call, but with over a week between games due to a postponement, I think Paoli is going to come out on the attack and get up early and hold on for the win at home. 45-37.
The Buggy Bowl! This one can go either way. Both teams are top tier, and if not one of these teams, then Loogootee will when the 1A title. I’m going with Barr-Reeve with that home court advantage and a huge game from Knepp. 46-41.
In one of the best rivalry games in the state, North Daviess travels to Montgomery to take on Barr Reeve. North Daviess comes in hot riding a 4-game winning streak, and I think that continues Saturday night as they go into Barr Reeve and come out with the win. North Daviess by 2 in an awesome game. 52-50.
See you all at the games this weekend! Remember these predictions are fun, and by no means are we experts. Its alright to share some mild ribbing, but please do not get vulgar.
