Sectional time for IHSAA Boys basketball is just right around the corner. In this article we offer our predictions for each Southern Indiana basketball sectional. We do not know the pairings yet. We do have a chart of how each team is performing currently. We do not always get it right, so we’d like your input. Please vote for each team you think will win.

Bloomington North, Bloomington South, Center Grove, Greenwood, Martinsville, Mooresville

Three great teams in this sectional, so it’s hard to be certain who will take the crown, but I think Center Grove has the highest chance. They’re a great team, and they’ve earned a 3-0 record currently against sectional opponents, beating Bloomington North, Greenwood, and Martinsville.

Columbus East, Columbus North, East Central, Franklin, Shelbyville, Whiteland

Jennings County has the ability to go far in the tournament, but BNL put a tough game on them. It wasn’t the Jennings County we’re used to seeing during. We’ve seen them at their best though, and if they get a chance to play Center Grove again, I think they’ll put up a good showing.

This is going to be a tough sectional for all teams involved. I’m picking Greensburg as my favorite, but it could go either way.

Trent Sisley is in this sectional, and if Heritage Hills gets a chance to play North Daviess, it will be a very interesting game. I believe North Daviess has the better overall team, but that Sisley star power can turn the tide of any game. Pike Central is amped to jump in there in win it as well. Don’t sleep on them.

Whoever gets a sectional pass to this group is going to be in for a treat. We could see 5 teams with the potential to win it. Providence was the 2A state champs last season, but Brownstown is now healthly and playing some of the basketball we’ve seen around Southern Indiana. Braves or Linton will be going to state for 2A in the South.

The Linton Miners are good, and its not just Joey Hart, there’s a few ballers on that team. I’d love to see Paoli win another one, but its going to be tough this year.

This sectional has produced the 1A state champ for several years now, and its poised to do so again. I’ve been saying since last season that Orleans would win 63, and I’m sticking with that. It’ll be them or Bloomfield representing Southern Indiana in the state championship game.
