Purdue Commit Jack Benter Scores 21, Leads Brownstown Central To Easy Win Over Orleans – 66-41

#6 in 2A vs. #2 in 1A.

Sold out crowd for senior night at “The Pit” in Brownstown.

This had the makings of another southern Indiana basketball classic. Ya know the kind. The kind of game that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Well it was… for the Braves. Brownstown Central simply demolished Orleans from the opening tip to cruise to a huge victory heading into the Sectionals next week.

We did not see this one coming at all as you can read from our game preview here. Thanks for making us eat our words Braves…

Brownstown started hot early with two quick buckets from Purdue commit Jack Benter and Orleans looked absolutely lost on the defensive end. The Bulldogs started off in a matchup 2-3 but the Braves quickly shot them out of that with a couple 3’s from both Benter and Parker Hehman. The rout was on from there. Benter, Hehman, and Colby Hall, among others, took advantage of Orleans poor defense and shot their way to a 33-16 halftime lead, punctuated by this alley-oop from Hehman to Benter to close out the half.

Orleans would not have any answer in the 2nd half either. It was simply Brownstown’s night as they rolled to a 66-41 victory. Jack Benter led all scorers with 21.

The Braves and especially Benter, Hehman, and Colby Hall looked just as good as advertised and now have some great momentum heading into the postseason. Man wouldn’t it be great if they eventually met up with Joey Hart and Linton? What a game that would be.

Orleans did not look like the team that came into this game 20-2 on the year. This game should fuel them to get back in the gym and back on track to compete for the always tough sectional 63 crown. Don’t fret Bulldog faithful, this was one game against one of the best teams and players in the state. Orleans is gonna be just fine.
