Day two of Sectional 31 started off with a bang as Vincennes Lincoln and Princeton battled all the way to the end.
Vincennes Lincoln came in the underdog at only 5-18 on the regular season but did not play like it. They jumped to an early lead and led the Princeton Tigers by as many as 9 at the half.
Princeton would roar back to start the second half however with an uptempo desperate brand of basketball. They began to pressure the Alice’s relentlessly. And cut it down to just a 2 point lead at the end of the third. The Tigers outscored the Alice’s 9-4 in the third.
Vincennes Lincoln would not go away however. It seemed that every time Princeton made a run the Alice’s were right there with a timely bucket to stifle it. With 1:11 left in the game and Princeton with the momentum, the Alice’s again came up huge as Junior forward Raden Benson was found down low and got the hoop and the harm. He would miss the free throw but the ensuing rebound would fall right through 2 Tiger players and end up in the hand of Senior guard Zachary Steffey for the easy layup. That 4 point swing propelled Vincennes Lincoln to the upset. The Alice’s won 39-33 and advanced to the Semifinal. This is Hoosier Hysteria folks.
Lincoln was led by Raden Benson and Joel Sanders both with 13 points a piece. Jace Jenkins led the way for the Tigers also with 13.
