The Vikings were just no match for the quicker, more powerful Knights of Fort Wayne Bishop Luers in the IHSAA 2A State Finals. Although they held their own in the first half only allowing 2 touchdowns, they could not put anything on the board other than a Kaleb Herke 30 yard field goal. The Vikings would actually lead in almost every important statistical category in the first half, except the one that mattered the most, the scoreboard.
The second half would be a totally different ballgame as the Knights would run and pass all over the Vikings defense to the tune of 202 total second half yards. The Knights passing game would come alive in the 3rd quarter as QB Kohen McKenzie would show his arm strength with TD passes of 26 and 40 yards respectively. He would add another in the 4th with a 11 yard pass to TE Wes Javins. The Knights would also get the running game going with Gio Jimenez coming to life gashing through the Vikings D-line. In the end it just wasn’t meant to be for the boys from Poseyville. They fell to the Knights 40 -3.
Although it didn’t end the way the Vikings wanted, there is no shame in this season. These boys played their tails off and represented Southern Indiana very well. We’ll see ya next year North Posey. I can almost guarantee it
