Scottsburg’s Garrett Boling Voted Southern Indiana Football Player of the Week

The fans have spoken, and they spoke louder than ever before. Scottsburg senior linebacker and tight end Garrett Boling has been voted the Southern Indiana Football Player of the Week for Week 3, earning 110,153 votes out of 215,840 cast. That gave him 51 percent of the total, making this the most votes ever recorded in a SISN Player of the Week poll.

The overwhelming support highlights not only Boling’s standout play but also the passion Southern Indiana communities have for high school football. SISN is grateful for every vote and for the energy fans brought back to this feature.

Week 3 Performance

Boling did a little bit of everything in Scottsburg’s 23–6 win over Salem. He hauled in a 34-yard touchdown reception, led the defense with 20 tackles including 15 solo, and added a sack and a forced fumble. To top it off, he even dropped back for a punt, pinning Salem with a 37-yarder. It was the kind of all-around effort that defines a team leader, making game-changing plays on both sides of the ball and setting the tone for his teammates.

Season Spotlight

Through three games Boling has been one of the state’s most dominant players. He currently leads Indiana in total tackles, averaging 16.7 per game. His stat line already includes 50 tackles, nine tackles for loss, two sacks, an interception, and two fumble recoveries. On offense he has added three catches for 92 yards and three touchdowns. That balance shows just how important he is to Scottsburg’s success, whether lining up as a linebacker or making plays in the passing game.

Career Accomplishments

Boling’s Week 3 honor is the latest chapter in an outstanding four-year varsity career. He has recorded 367 tackles, 265 of them solo, and averages more than ten stops a game. He has also produced six and a half sacks, five interceptions, and seven forced fumbles. On offense he has caught 36 passes for 812 yards and 20 touchdowns, and he has topped 1,000 all-purpose yards across four seasons. From a freshman contributor to a senior leader, Boling has been at the heart of Scottsburg football throughout his career.

Indiana Mr. Football Candidate and Multi-Sport Athlete

Boling entered his senior season already considered a candidate for Indiana’s Mr. Football award thanks to his combination of defensive dominance and offensive production. As a junior in 2024 he piled up 138 tackles and 15 touchdowns, including 18 receptions for 454 yards and 12 scores. He is also a two-sport standout. In the winter he helped Scottsburg’s basketball program capture the 2023–24 3A State Championship, providing key minutes off the bench with rebounds and timely points.

Recruiting Outlook

While Boling has not yet announced any college scholarship offers, interest is building quickly. Scottsburg’s coaching staff noted this past spring that recruiting was “heating up,” and he competed in the Indiana Stock Up Showcase in December of 2024 to gain more exposure. Prep Redzone and other scouting services have recognized him as one of the state’s top prospects in the Class of 2026. His combination of toughness, athleticism, and versatility make him an intriguing recruit who still has time to field offers before graduation.

About the Team

The Scottsburg Warriors are off to a perfect 3–0 start in 2025 with wins over Madison, North Harrison, and Salem. They will travel to Corydon Central in Week 4 before facing Silver Creek, Charlestown, and Clarksville. The toughest test on the schedule appears to be Brownstown Central on October 17. With Boling leading the defense and contributing on offense, the Warriors look poised to make this one of their best seasons in recent memory.

Community Support

The record-breaking vote total showed how much the Scottsburg community rallied behind its senior leader. SISN appreciates the incredible support from fans across Southern Indiana and encourages readers to send in photos of Boling so that we can feature players visually as well as through their stat lines.

Looking Ahead

Garrett Boling is the Southern Indiana Football Player of the Week for Week 3, but the season is still young. SISN will continue spotlighting athletes who make Friday nights special in communities across the region. Week 4 voting will open soon, giving fans another chance to show their support.

We also want to recognize the top three players from this week’s vote. Boling earned the win with 110,153 votes after a performance that included 20 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, and a 34-yard touchdown catch. Bedford North Lawrence quarterback Dayson Kirby finished second with 84,851 votes after throwing for 416 yards and three touchdowns in a 48–27 win over Jeffersonville. North Knox’s Tyler Clark came in third with 14,000 votes after recording 11 tackles on defense and adding 105 all-purpose yards in his team’s thrilling 25–24 victory over North Posey.

Congratulations to Garrett, Dayson, Tyler, and the communities who showed overwhelming support for their players. The passion and pride in Southern Indiana football continues to shine through in every vote and every game.

Congratulations to Garrett Boling and the Scottsburg Warriors.
