The nominees for Southern Indiana Football Player of the Week – Week 5. Vote now at www.sisn.me
The fans have spoken week after week, and Southern Indiana high school football continues to deliver standout performances. Last week, Isaiah Williams of Lawrenceburg took home Week 4 Player of the Week honors, collecting 61.56% of the vote with 3,060 ballots. While Week 3 broke voting records, Week 4 saw a dip in fan engagement. Now, with a fresh slate of nominees in Week 5, it’s time for the community to rally again and decide which player will claim the spotlight.
All nominees turned in outstanding efforts under the Friday night lights, and it’s up to the fans to choose the winner. Cast your vote below.
Gibson Southern leaned on senior leader Zach Foster to power past Southridge 41–12 in a key conference matchup. Foster threw for 201 yards and three touchdowns on 14-of-22 passing while adding 112 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground. His 313 total yards accounted for four scores, making him a major factor in the Titans’ offensive surge. Foster was also nominated earlier this season, continuing to prove himself as one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in the region.
North Posey’s passing game clicked in a big way Friday, and junior quarterback Carter Schickel was at the center of it. He completed 19 of 25 passes for 305 yards and seven touchdowns in a 49–6 win over Pike Central. Spreading the ball to multiple receivers, Schickel kept the offense moving all night, with four of his touchdowns going to sophomore receiver Dylan Murphy. This marks Schickel’s first SISN nomination as the Vikings continue to look like one of Southern Indiana’s most dangerous teams.
Senior running back Quaithan Pauley set the tone for Evansville North in its 49–12 win over Bosse. He carried the ball 13 times for 150 yards, averaging more than 11 yards per carry, and scored three touchdowns. Pauley’s explosive runs fueled a Huskies rushing attack that piled up 361 yards. This is Pauley’s first appearance on the SISN voting list, but with numbers like these, he may not be a stranger going forward.
Sophomore quarterback Brady Franks delivered a breakout performance for Jennings County. He completed 5 of 6 passes for 28 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing for 153 yards and three more scores on 17 carries. On defense, Franks added an interception, showing his two-way ability. Accounting for five touchdowns and 181 total yards, Franks provided a spark that carried Jennings County’s offense. This is his first nomination on SISN’s Player of the Week list.
Tyler Clark showcased his versatility in North Knox’s 41–12 victory over North Central. The senior wideout hauled in nine receptions for 182 yards and five touchdowns, averaging over 20 yards per catch. Clark added rushing yards, return yards, and even kicking duties, finishing with 211 all-purpose yards and 31 total points. On defense, he chipped in eight tackles. Clark’s ability to impact the game in every phase makes him a repeat SISN nominee, having been mentioned in earlier weekly coverage.
East Central’s dominance continued behind junior running back Colton Bellman in a 45–0 win at Batesville. Bellman carried the ball 19 times for 229 yards and three touchdowns, averaging over 12 yards per carry. His explosiveness helped the Trojans rack up 422 rushing yards as they pulled away early. East Central has been a fixture on SISN’s Player of the Week lists, and Bellman’s Week 5 nomination shows the depth of talent on the Trojans’ roster.
J. Jackson-ray delivered one of the most complete performances of Week 5 in South Decatur’s 26–20 victory at Brown County. Offensively, he rushed for 217 yards and four touchdowns on 29 carries and added two receptions for 15 yards. Defensively, he tallied seven tackles, two interceptions. Jackson-ray’s contributions on both sides of the ball were vital in the Cougars’ hard-fought conference win. This marks his second SISN nomination.
Edit: Sacked removed from stats.
Shaun Cooper carried Bloomington South to a 49–14 win over Terre Haute South with a career performance. The senior back rushed 33 times for 241 yards and five touchdowns, averaging 7.3 yards per carry. Behind Cooper’s steady production, the Panthers controlled the game from start to finish, finishing with 315 rushing yards as a team. Cooper makes his debut on the SISN Player of the Week ballot with this dominant showing.
