It is back. The Southern Indiana Sports Network Top 25 ranks every program in the region on one board, from 1A to 6A. Like the college polls, we weigh dominance inside a team’s class, strength of schedule, and how that team would likely compete across classes. Smaller schools can appear above larger ones because of how completely they control their class. That does not mean they would win head to head against every larger opponent.
Balanced and ruthless. South has outscored opponents by a wide margin with efficient offense and a physical front seven. QB Duncan Combs has passed for just over 1,000 yards with 9 TD. RB Shaun Cooper has 724 yards and 13 TD, and RB Braylen Townsend adds 643 yards and 12 TD. On defense, MLB Ian Quick has 46 tackles and Ross Ogden has 45 tackles with strong backfield disruption. Next up is Brebeuf Jesuit, then a marquee test with Center Grove.
The Trojans look like a late October problem again. RB Colton Bellman has 938 rushing yards and 9 TD behind a line that is tough for four quarters. Senior Nolan Maple runs the show at quarterback and spreads it to Ethan Feldkamp in the pass game (367 yards, 4 TD). Zamir Whitaker adds punch on the ground (190 yards, 5 TD). East Central’s physicality still travels. Senior Karson Dorsey leads the team with 5 interceptions, and Jake Lutz has 3 sacks on the season.
QB Zach Foster is a handful for defenses. He has 1,077 passing yards and 15 TD, plus 694 rushing yards and 6 TD. Senior WR Noah Kuester is a red zone problem (25 catches, 271 yards, 8 TD). Junior RB Eli Foster chips in on the ground (304 yards), and Colin Scherer anchors the defense (56 tackles, 4 INT). Five straight wins since Week 2 tell the story, especially the big win over Heritage Hills in week 6.
The Braves keep it on script. Ball control, line play, and a ground game that squeezes the clock. Brownstown has looked like the 2A standard all fall. We will learn more as the postseason bracket hardens, but we think they’ll be walking to the State Finals unless someone is able to step up and stop them. So far, they have trounced everyone they meet. Their final game of the season, against Scottsburg, will be their ultimate proving test.
After a Week 1 stumble, the Tigers have rolled six straight. QB Crue Gilmour has 1,094 passing yards and 16 TD passes is a true dual threat with 399 rushing yards. Senior Keaton McGrath headlines the receivers (34 for 546, 8 TD), with support from Mason Manford who has 4 reception touchdowns. On the ground, Isaiah Williams has 349 yards and 4 TD, and Sophomore Brogan Wynn adds 242 yards and 5 TD. Steady defense has kept opponents in check during the streak.
The Highlanders are punishing on the ground. Senior RB Sebastion Robertson has 1,040 rushing yards and 15 TD. QB Jack Mull has thrown for 1,211 yards with 8 TD and uses Junior Jaxon Stone downfield (27 for 511, 3 TD) while Luke Jacobi is a two-way spark (339 rush, 227 receiving, 6 total TD). On defense, Senior LB Matt Polk has 62 tackles and DB Dovovan Taylor leads with 4 INT. Floyd Central is first in the Hoosier Hills conference after a huge win over BNL this past week.
Undefeated with real teeth on both sides of the ball. QB Luke Brown has 1,159 passing yards and 16 TDs and has found two reliable targets in Luke Dockery (27 for 328, 6 TD) and Max Anslinger (26 for 322, 6 TD). Senior RB/LB Dylen Kendrick drives the run game (516 yards, 9 TD). Memorial’s defense has been organized and opportunistic in key moments, ruling the Evansville metro.
A big play offense with a quarterback who can do both. Senior QB/SS Jett Goldsberry has 1,256 passing yards and 542 rushing yards, with 18 rushing TD. Jett is also an Ole Miss commit. Senior WR/CB Tyler Ruxer (31 for 501, 5 TD) and Peyton Gray (20 for 430, 9 TD) stress coverages vertically and in the red zone. The Patriots’ only loss was a tight one to Gibson Southern, that was decided on the last play of the game.
Six straight wins since Week 1. The Wildcats are organized, physical, and patient. They have closed out games with defense and field position. Another team built to travel in the postseason, and another team that is ruling the Evansville gauntlet, with their only loss coming from Memorial. They’ll wrap their season up against two more tough teams in Evansville North and Vincennes Lincoln.
The Miners load their schedule with heavyweight tests across state lines. That pays off in October. A deep stable of backs and a veteran front gives Linton a familiar playoff ceiling. Linton is always one of the best teams in Southern Indiana, and this year is no difference. They look to continue winning to close out the season with matchups against Eastern Greene and Northview.
Sectionals are close. East Central’s late slate, Floyd Central’s rivalry run-in, and Brownstown’s perfect bid all carry real ranking weight in the next update. This SISN Top 25 poll has no bearing on actual rankings in High School football. This poll is meant to shed recognition on some of the great teams playing in Southern Indiana. Please share your top teams in the comments, and stay tuned to vote for the Top Players from area from Week 7!
