Garrett Boling Earns Second Southern Indiana Football Player of the Week Award

For the second time this season, Scottsburg senior Garrett Boling has been voted the Southern Indiana Football Player of the Week, earning 47.6% of more than 21,000 fan votes. His first honor came back in Week 3, and since then, he’s continued to prove why he’s one of the most complete players in Southern Indiana.

Boling once again delivered on both sides of the ball, catching 4 passes for 140 yards and 2 touchdowns while adding 10 tackles on defense. The senior wide receiver and linebacker has become the heartbeat of a 7-1 Warriors team that’s enjoying one of its best seasons in years.

A Complete Player

Boling leads Scottsburg in receiving with 26 receptions for 723 yards and 12 touchdowns, averaging 90.4 yards per game. On defense, he’s among the state’s elite, ranking 17th in Indiana with 102 total tackles (12.8 per game) along with 15 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, 1 interception, 2 fumble recoveries, and 1 forced fumble.

He’s also proven valuable on special teams, serving as the team’s punter with 14 punts, including 2 downed inside the 20-yard line and a long of 48 yards. Boling’s all-around production and leadership have defined the Warriors’ season — a true example of two-way excellence.

About the Scottsburg Warriors

Under head coach Kyle Mullins, the Scottsburg Warriors (7-1, 7-1 Mid-Southern Conference) have been one of the biggest stories in Southern Indiana football this fall. The Warriors have outscored opponents 307–68, are undefeated at home (3-0), and boast one of the top defenses in Class 3A.

Their only loss came in a tight 20–17 battle on the road at Charlestown. Since then, the Warriors have found their rhythm, winning back-to-back games by a combined score of 134–7.

This Friday, Scottsburg will face its toughest test yet — an undefeated Brownstown Central (8-0) squad that’s among the favorites to win the 2A state title. It’s a matchup that will test the Warriors on both sides of the ball and provide a postseason-level atmosphere to close the regular season.

After that, Scottsburg turns its focus to the playoffs, hosting Edgewood in the first round of the IHSAA Class 3A Sectionals on October 24.
