Franklin County’s Wyatt Bowling Wins Final Southern Indiana Football Player of the Week

The fans have spoken and Franklin County senior quarterback Wyatt Bowling has been voted the final Southern Indiana Football Player of the Week of the regular season. Bowling earned 48.19% of the 9,531 total votes, outpacing Greensburg’s Levi Muckerheide (25.37%) and Connersville’s Parker Flanigan (10.25%) to claim this week’s honor.

This marks the last regular-season fan vote of the year, and Bowling made sure to leave an impression. His Week 9 performance was a masterclass in balance and control as the Wildcats rolled to a 30–6 win over North Decatur. Bowling completed 14 of 18 passes for 271 yards while adding 25 carries for 155 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. The senior totaled 426 yards of offense, leading Franklin County to one of its most complete performances of the season.

A Season of Dual-Threat Dominance

Bowling has been a steady leader all season for the Wildcats, driving one of the most efficient offenses in Southern Indiana. Through nine games, he’s completed 67% of his passes (59-for-88) for 936 yards and 10 touchdowns while rushing 110 times for 985 yards and 14 touchdowns. His 1,921 total yards account for more than half of Franklin County’s total offensive production this season.

Bowling’s mix of speed and accuracy has kept defenses guessing all year, and his consistency has been key in Franklin County’s 7–2 overall record. With his 9.0 yards per carry average and a passing rating of 130.7, Bowling has quietly put together one of the most productive senior campaigns in the region.

Franklin County’s Offensive Firepower

The Wildcats have been one of the most balanced and statistically impressive teams in Southern Indiana. According to MaxPreps, Franklin County’s 2,306 rushing yards nearly double the national average of 1,004, and their 1,263 passing yards comfortably surpass the national mark of 803.

They average 7.2 yards per carry (national avg. 5.8) and 396.6 total yards per game, far above the national team average of 241.8. With 28 rushing touchdowns and 12 passing scores, the Wildcats have proven to be one of the state’s most efficient offenses, and Bowling’s leadership is a major reason why.

Eyes on the Sectional Rematch

Franklin County will look to carry its momentum into the postseason as it prepares for a Sectional rematch against Batesville — a team the Wildcats beat 49–6 earlier this month. The matchup will be one of the highlights of the opening round of the IHSAA Class 3A State Tournament.

If Bowling continues his late-season surge, Franklin County will be a tough team for anyone to slow down. His blend of arm strength, mobility, and poise gives the Wildcats a legitimate chance to make a deep playoff run.
