Photos from the Bobcat of Daviess County Classic – Loogootee and Brownstown win the first two games in strong fashion

There are a lot of Indiana High School Basketball tournaments taking place right now, but the Bobcat of Daviess County Classic might have some of the hottest teams. The holiday tournament features the number 1, 2, and 3 teams in Class A basketball with Barr-Reeve, North Daviess, and Loogootee. The class 2A number 3 with Fort Wayne Blackwawks, 3A powerhouse Brownstown Central, as well as verastile Paoli, Rock Creek, aand South Knox.

Southern Indiana Sports Network was able to attend the Paoli vs Loogootee and Brownstown vs Rock Creek opening night games. Below we’ll share quick thoughts on the games, photos, and game scores.

Paoli Rams vs Loogootte Lions – Indiana High School Basketball (12/28/2021)

Loogootee – 59 Paoli – 35

Loogootee Leading Scorers

  • Bledsoe – 25
  • Nonte – 15
  • Arvin – 13

Paoli Leading Scorers

  • Cole – 9
  • Moon – 8
  • Rominger – 7

Paoli started the game out strong, but lost their momentum going into the second. The Rams haven’t played for nearly two weeks and only have 4 games under their belt. The Rams could not recover after losing their lead.

The Lions are really well coached, and their experience shown in this game. Loogootee’s Peyton Bledsoe and Luke Nonte were the best players on the court, the differenes in this game. Loogootee will go on to play a very electric Brownstown Central team in the second round. Paoli will play Rock Creek. Both games are tomorrow at North Daviess gym.

Brownstown Central vs Rock Creek Academy

Brownstown Central – 59 Rock Creek Academy – 42

Brownstown Central Leading Scorers

  • Benter – 29
  • Waskom – 8
  • Neal – 7

Rock Creek Academy Leading Scorers

  • Gullion – 11
  • Boggs – 9
  • Wallace – 9

This game should have been called the Jack Benter Show. Brownstown’s sophomore guard was unstoppable, and probably the best player I’ve seen live this year. Benter oozed confidence, was not fazed by the seven foot Marial Diper, who guarded Benter several times on the perimeter. Resulting in Benter stepping back to NBA distance with ease.

Rock Creek made a small comeback in the second half, but there was never any worry that Brownstown would lose the matchup. If Benter and the rest of the Braves play as well as they did today, I’d put them as heavy contenders to win the Bobcat of ND Classic.

Fort Wayne vs North Daviess

Fort Wayne Blackhawk – 48 North Daviess – 41

Fort Wayne Blackhawk Leading Scorers

  • Furst – 16 Sefton
  • 14 Jones
  • 9

North Daviess Leading Scorers

  • Mullen – 13
  • Britton – 9
  • Lo. Wilson – 7

As I was writing this column, the Fort Wayne game wrapped up. I was not able to get any pictures, but I wouldn’t to share the scores. If you’d like to follow more of teams. Check out the twitter account of the tournament, which is sharing scores and updates.
