North Daviess wins big over Forest Park, 74 to 48, in the third game of the Bobcat Classic

The third game of the Bobcat classic featured the host team, North Daviess taking on Forest Park. North Daviess is defending 1A champion, and they looked every bit the champion. The Cougars came to play and win big, dominating the Rangers in a 74 to 48 win.

There is not anything negative I could say about this North Daviess team. Nothing but impressive. They came out swinging, putting up 33 points in the first quarter, holding Forest Park to only 9. They were hitting everything. If they missed a shot in the first, I didn’t see it. Jaylen Mullen had 15 alone in the first.

The Cougars let off the gas a little bit in the second and third. They’re good at changing the pace of the game, and even though Forest Park tried to creep back in, North Daviess controlled every facet of this game.

Forest Park did not look like the same team who beat Paoli in the first round of Regionals last season. The radio commentator next me noted that it looked like a layup practice for the Cougars, and it kind of did at first.

I will say that the Rangers held their composure, and tried to make it a game, but they just couldn’t keep up with the haymakers North Daviess was throwing. Junior Reid Howard led the Rangers in scoring with 12 points. He was the only Ranger in double figures.

Jaylen Mullen led all scorers with 29 points. Austin Brower had 11 points and Logan Wilson and Brendan Stickles finished with 10 points each for the North Daviess Cougars.

North Daviess will move on to play South Knox tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 pm. Forest Park will play Paoli at 11:30 am, in a rematch of last years Regional match.

Next game up at the Bobcat Classic is the main event, Brownstown Central vs the Loogootee Lions.
