Defense/Running Game Help Bloomington South Destroy Bloomington North 45-7

Bloomington,IN – Bloomington South seems to be coming into their prime early in the 2022 season. Sitting at #5 in SISN’s latest Southern Indiana Football Top 25 poll, the Panthers have run all over their last two opponents. In an amazing atmosphere across town at Bloomington North the Panthers steamrolled the Cougars to the tune of 45-7 in the SISN Game of the Week. Gavin Adams and the South rushing attack were able to amass 337 total rushing yards on 51 carries, while the Panthers’ defense held North to under 200 yards of total offense.

South’s Line Consistently Won At The Line Of Scrimmage

South’s starting offensive front line of Reece Ennis, Asher Nicholson, Hunter Smith, Diego Avila and Wynter Sons consistently won at the point of contact and were able to open up some major holes for South’s talented running backs. South averaged 6.6 yards rushing thanks to these big guys up front.

“We’ve got two really good running backs I think and I really like them,” Johnson said. “I don’t know what the film says, but I think we’re gonna find that our O-Line played well. We’re a much better football team when they are playing well.”

Defense Holds North to 139 yds total offense

The Panthers’ defensive line was almost perfect and constantly moved the line of scrimmage backwards. This is the second straight game that the Panthers’ have held their opponents to under 200 yards total offense.

Adams ran 22 times for 146 yards and 3 scores. He was unstoppable and was easily the best player on the field the whole game.

Defense:

LB Ralph Rogers

Rogers was one of SISN players to watch for this game and he did not disappoint. His ability to stop the run and also defend the pass were on full display against North.
