Jack Benter Leads Brownstown Central To 3rd Place In Bobcat Classic

Brownstown Central and South Knox battled for 3rd place in the Bobcat of Daviess County Classic. When i say battle I do mean battle. This was one hard fought match up.

Jack Benter was absolutely unstoppable early on. He poured in 8 of Brownstown’s 14 first quarter points and it looked as if Brownstown would run away with this one. At the end of the 1st quarter Brownstown would take a 14-9 lead. It would be much of the same in the second quarter. South Knox just couldn’t seem to find an answer for Brownstown’s high powered offensive machine. The Braves would take a commanding 29-17 lead into halftime.

Now I dont know what kind of halftime speech South Knox Head Coach David Burkett gave to his Spartans at half time but it certainly worked. South Knox would find a way to slow down Benter and the Braves and begin to pour in some buckets of their own. South Knox would go on to outscore Brownstown Central 15-6 and get the Braves lead down to 3 at the end of the third.

South Knox just couldn’t find a way to get over the hump however as Benter and the Braves would keep The Spartans at bay. It seemed like every time South Knox would get something going, Benter would come back and almost effortlessly drop in a lay up, smash an open jumper, or pull up for a three. Brownstown would go on to win and finish 3rd in the Classic by a score of 57-52. Jack Benter would lead all scorers with an impressive 38 points. South Knox would be led by Dakota Chandler who dropped in 19 in the losing effort.

I tip my hat to the Spartans of South Knox as they never stopped fighting. This turned out to be one heck of a game.
