SEYMOUR — Seymour senior Treysean Hawkins has been named the Southern Indiana Football Player of the Week for Week 7 after a dominant all-around performance in the Owls’ 44–7 win over Jennings County, their first victory of the season.
Hawkins earned 80% of the fan vote, collecting 1,278 votes out of 1,588 cast. He outpaced Braelyn Kleehammer (Scottsburg), who finished second with 284 votes, and Jett Goldsberry (Heritage Hills), who placed third with 11 votes.
On the field, Hawkins was the definition of a game-changer. He carried the ball 15 times for 167 yards and two touchdowns, caught two passes for 79 yards and another score, and made a major defensive impact with nine tackles, three tackles for loss, and a sack. His playmaking ability on both sides of the ball helped Seymour control the game from start to finish.
Through seven games this season, Hawkins has been a bright spot for the Owls’ offense. The senior has totaled 793 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 116 carries (6.8 yards per attempt), along with 13 receptions for 160 yards and one receiving touchdown. He’s also contributed 19 total tackles, four tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks on defense. Hawkins is averaging 136 all-purpose yards per game and continues to be one of the most versatile two-way players in Southern Indiana.
