These are the key games in Southern Indiana high school football this week as picked by SISN.
This could be a slip up game for East Central. Connersville is not the same caliber team as the Trojans so they should get beat pretty bad. East Central has a big game week 8 as they welcome Guerin Catholic who is no slouch. The Trojans will need to stay focused on this week and not look forward or it could get dicey for them.
Gibson Southern looks to keep pace with Owen Valley atop the Sectional 30 leader-board. While Owen Valley travels to 1-6 Eastern Greene, Gibson Southern will have a tougher test against Mt. Vernon. Mount Vernon will be chomping at the bits to get at their sectional rival so expect some fierce competition. I don’t think Gibson will slip up at home though.
This is a big one as arguably the two best teams in Evansville square off tonight. This will undoubtedly decide who the champion of Evansville is. Reitz is arguably the best team in all of Southern Indiana but Memorial is no slouch either. I think Reitz pulls away in the second in a close game.
Martinsville is riding high after a 2 score beating of a very very good Whiteland team. Perry Meridian is also coming into tonight’s game riding a win. The Falcons are no match for the Artesians as that Martinsville Cinderella magic continues tonight in SISN’s Game of the Week.
SISN was in attendance for Jasper’s first game of the season as they knocked off Evansville Memorial. Then the wheels kind of fell off. Jasper would go on to lose 3 out of their next five. Castle on the other hand is deserving of their #15 ranking in the SISN Top 25. Im going with Castle at home in this one
Providence is coming off of a heart breaking 2 point loss to Holy Cross (Louisville, KY) and will be sure to have a nasty taste in their mouths. Look for Providence to come out angry and ready to win.
Charlestown is used to winning and I dont think Corydon Central has a chance of breaking that habit tonight.
In a Sectional 31 matchup, Lawrenceburg will look to move their winning streak to 6 games and I don’t see Rushville doing anything to challenge that.
This one here will decide the Conference Indiana Championship. Bloomington South has been absolutely on a roll and that roll will not stop here. Another Conference Indiana title will be coming home to Bloomington.
This one right here may be the closest game on this list. Springs Valley is 4-2 on the year and will have some extra momentum as they try and put that first L on Tecumseh’s record. I think Tecumseh prevails, but in a close one.
