Sectional 15

Columbus East, Bloomington South, Bloomington North, Seymour

“Monroe Bowl”

Bloomington North and Seymour are the only 2 teams who won this week for Sectional 15. This sectional grouping has underperformed this season and its too early to tell how these teams will fair going forward.

East Central Football continues to put the points up in the Sectional 23 grouping. The Trojans beat an Harrison Ohio team, 41 to 7. Quarterback Cole Burton threw for 291 yards and 5 touchdowns, and receiver Ryan Brotherton had 4 reception for 190 yards and 3 TD.

Martinsville has also been a roll lately, beating 2 local rivals in the first two weeks. In week 2, Senior QB Tyler Adkins threw for 242 yards and 4 touchdowns in a win over the larger Bloomington South team, 27 to 14.

Greenwood loses a big game to 3A Indian Creek, 21-20. These two teams have been playing each other in the second game of the season for years, and this was the first time Indian Creek was able to win in 7 years.

The loss will drop Greenwood down one spot.

Heritage Hills and Southridge all remain undefeated in Week 2. Heritage wins by the strong running of both Sophomore Hunter Meredith and Shane Staples. Southridge slowed the game down and was able to beat 4A Boonville, who had success against Paoli last week. Reid Schroeder lead Southridge with 138 total yards and a TD.

Cascade, Greencastle, Linton-Stockton, North Knox, North Putnam, South Vermillion, Southmont, Sullivan

Sectional 39

Brown County, Brownstown Central, Christel House Manual, Clarksville, Eastern (Pekin), Switzerland County, Triton Central

“Hilltop Bowl”

Its hard to tell how good Scecina really is. They are playing teams we do not know much about, but they are definetly putting the points on them. The same story goes for Switerzland County, who may be playing lower competition.

Triton Central faced a close one in week 2 against New Castle, who took the lead going into half, but was held scoreless by Triton Central in the second half.

Brownstown Central suffers a tough loss to a streaking Charlestown team, who may very well have the best QB in Southern Indiana. Clarksville also taste defeat after a very exciting first week.

Crawford County, Evansville Mater Dei, Forest Park, Mitchell, North Posey, Paoli, Perry Central, Tell City

“Patoka Bowl”

North Posey has been putting a lot of points on the board this season, nearing almost 100 points differential. Liam Stone led the way this week for North Posey with 3 touchdowns in a win over Princteon 53 to 14.

Evansville Mater Dei continues to win, of course, this time against a 5A Castle, 17 to 14. QB Wunderlich performed well again with 224 passing yards, 1 td. Joey Pierre, Mater Dei, had 92 yards and the other Wildcat touchdown.

Perry Central beat Sectional Rival Forest Park 42-21 behind the legs of Sawyer Guillaume, Junior RB, who rushed for 269 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Paoli pulled out the big win over 3A Corydon Central behind a solid rushing attack of multiple players. Trey Rominger led the Rams with 255 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Sectional 48

Eastern Greene, North Daviess, Providence, Rock Creek Academy, South Spencer, Springs Valley, Tecumseh, West Washington

“Backwoods Bowl”

The big game in my opinion was the West Washington win over Clarksville, 36 to 26. I can’t find any stats or much of a story on the game, but it really paints a picture for the 2 and 0 West Washington as a true contenter for Sectional 48 Crown.

Springs Valley continues to roll teams, this time beating Mitchell 45 to 6. Blackhawks’ Senior RB Ezra Mills rushed 8 times for 105 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Tecumseh and North Davies all pull off big wins, but the Sectional rankings will remain the same for week 2.
