Southern Indiana Basketball Games of the Weekend and Predictions - IHSAA Boys Basketball News - SISN

The IHSAA Boys basketball season is reaching its zenith, and the season’s story is in full dramatics. The stage is set this weekend for some good basketball. These are the games we are excited about this weekend. We’ll also offer our predictions for each game.

Friday, Jan 20th 2023 –

Jack Benter Brownstown Boys Basketball 2022-1
Jack Benter Purdue Recruit from Brownstown Central

Brownstown Central (9-3) at Greensburg (9-4)

This Braves vs Pirates matchup should be a good one. We’re still not sure if Jack Benter is playing. His cut hand is still a factor after the big dunk last weekend. The winner of this game could be dependent on if he’s playing or not.

Greensburg is led by Ki Dyer, who’s averaging 18 ppg, 4 rpg, 3 apg, and 2 steals. Jeter Edwards and Jack Mckinsey are also major contributors to this Pirates Offense, each contributing around 11 points a game.

If Benter plays, I predict that Brownstown will win tonight.

SISN Prediction – Brownstown Central wins, 60-54.

Castle (8-5) at Bloomington South (9-5)

This will probably be a low scoring game, with a lot of good coaching and ball movement. But I think it’ll be Castle’s Weston Aigner that takes over this game. Aigner is ranked 8th on our list of best players in the state, scoring 26 points a game with 8 rebounds. John Harrel is picking Bloomington South to win by 2, it will be close but I’m giving Castle the edge.

SISN Prediction – Castle, 54-51.

Eastern (Pekin) (12-2) at Charlestown (7-7)

The John Harrel website has Charlestown winning this game. Yes, Charlestown has some scorers in Demetrius Phelps (14 ppg), AJ Todd (14 ppg), and Jake Ottersbach (8 ppg). But Eastern Pekin has beaten some good teams and holds the edge against common foes.

SISN Prediction – Eastern Pekin, 56-53

Heritage Hills (10-3) at Southridge (7-7)

Heritage Hills is a good team with Trent Sisley at the helm, but teams have proven they can be beaten. Southridge can be scrappy, but Heritage Hills will run away with this one.

SISN Predictions – Heritage Hills, 70-55.

Jaylen Mullen from North Daviess

Linton-Stockton (13-1) at North Daviess (13-2)

This game is the matchup of the week, and a tough one to call. Linton will be out to get some revenge from last year, while North Daviess wants to prove it wasn’t a fluke. Both teams are beating teams by over 13 points a game. Both have some star players. Both have the will to win, but I think North Daviess’ will is stronger.

SISN Prediction – North Daviess, 48-45.

North Posey (9-6) at South Spencer (13-1)

Jackson Graff is balling out for North Posey this year, but South Spencer has the better record against like opponents. 7-1 to 4-3. John Harrel is picking South Spencer as the clear favorite, but I think it will be closer then what they have listed.

SISN Prediction – South Spencer, 61-55.

Paoli (8-3) at Springs Valley (5-8)

Springs Valley is having a down year, but always present a challenge. Paoli’s record may be decent, but I think there’s still a lot of unknowns. Paoli will win this game, but its up to them if they want to make it a good win.

SISN Prediction – Paoli, 60-45.

Paoli’s Trey Rominger

Providence (9-3) at Henryville (9-3)

Henryville has put together a great record as the season progresses, but their strength of schedule is nothing to brag about. The defending 2A champs, Providence, should get the win here.

SISN Prediction – 63-50.

Saturday, Jan 21st 2023 –

Barr-Reeve (8-6) at North Daviess (13-2)

The Buggy Bowl! Barr-Reeve won this game last year at their house. Then North Daviess beat Barr-Reeve in the sectional. This time the games at North Daviess, but its right after North Daviess has to play Linton. That could come into play a little bit, and even though Barr-Reeve is down this year, they’re going to play their hardest to beat the Cougars.

SISN Prediction – North Daviess, 68-52.

Batesville (8-4) at Connersville (10-3)

Connersville is playing great ball right now, with Josh Williams leading the way (16 ppg, 6 rpg, and 5 apg), but I think Batesville matches up with them pretty will with Cole Pride, Cade Kaiser, and Jack Grunkemeyer.

SISN Prediction – Connersville, 52-51.

Castle (8-5) at Heritage Hills (10-3)

Both have big games on Friday night, then have to play each other Saturday. They’re going to be tired, and its going to be a battle. Does Heritage Hills have enough weapons outside of Sisley to compete against Castle? Castle has the stronger schedule and against common foes. If Heritage Hills pulls off the win, it would be a statement game for Sisley and Heritage Hills.

SISN Prediction – Heritage Hills, 62-57.

Corydon Central (12-2) at Charlestown (7-7)

Corydon Central is another team that has been on a tear, and this game should be a big rivalry matchup. The gym should be packed and the atmosphere will fuel a fun game.

SISN Prediction – Corydon Central, 71-66.

Loogootee (10-4) at Bloomfield (12-3)

Two good teams meet up that are well known to one another. Loogootee has the series edge at 23-15, winning last years match up 44-39. Bloomfield is the favorite, but I’m going to go with Loogootee.

SISN Prediction – Loogootee, 42-39.
