Stats are not the only way to say who the best high school basketball players are. Neither are fan votes, buts it’s still fun! Another small way to give recognition to the players we love to watch. This is the first iteration of SIN Sports Network’s Top 25 Indiana High School player fan vote. We received around 50 votes, with 87 different IHSAA basketball players nominated.
Below we will share the names of all players who were nominated for December. We will also show the schools that received the most votes. We’ll also share how we the votes were calculated, and the rules to the voting. There will also be a link for the Reader Vote for January. Lastly, we would like to offer a final vote to all readers for the SIN Sports Network December Player of the Month. There will be a voting option, using the Top 25 players in the list as nominations. The highest voted player will be our Player of the Month.
How the votes were calulated
We kept the process as easy as possible. At a minimum we asked readers to provide the names of 5 athletes at the minimum, and a max of 20. A player who receives a Rank 1 vote, receives 25 points, a rank 2 vote is 24 points, and so forth. We sum up the points for all players to tally up the votes for Top Players.
Rules to Voting
- Only one ballot per person each week.
- A ballot must contain at least 5 players and a max of 20 players.
- Only 2 Players from a team can be on the same submitted ballot.
- Do not bash or slander any players on this list.

Brayden Perry from Shoals comes out on top in the first stage of voting. The Shoals fans came in force for this round of voting, propelling Brayden up to the number one spot. Perry is ranked 50 in our 1A power rankings, putting up a strong 13 points, 4 assists, 3 steals, and 3 rebounds per game.
At number 2, we have Hagen Knepp, who is probably the fan favorite. I don’t believe we received any votes from fans at Barr Reeve, but Hagen Knepp received enough votes from fans at other schools to be number 2 on the list. And rightly so, he might just be one of the best in the state. The list is full of great players, a lot of from the Southern Indiana area, but there are some players splattered in there from the North.
We received 50 votes this first time around, but our goal for January is to get more than 100. So please share the link for January to as many people as you know. Make sure to vote for the Player of the Month below. We will have a special feature on this player and possibly make a plaque to commemorate the award.

This doesn’t indicate the best teams out there, its does tell us who’s fans came to vote, and how other schools view each other. Hopefully as more votes come through, we’ll have more data to sift through to provide more interesting content.

Shoals is clearly having a great time over there voting for their boys. This would be a better survey if all voters could vote only 1x.
Yeah, I think we figured out how to limit it to one vote, so we’ll probably do that next time.
