It was a rainy and cold drive down US 50 to Seymour, but we were not alone as we were right smack dab in the middle of the North Daviess Cougars convoy. Cougar Nation packed the Lloyd E. Scott Gymnasium and boy were they loud.

The Cougars started off hot in the first half with a couple 3’s from Markus Britton. They would hold the lead going into the break 10-7. The second quarter both teams went on a scoring rampage. North Daviess highlighted this scoring barrage with some sick ankle breaking cross overs from Jaylen Mullen which led to a couple pretty pull up jumpers from the free throw line extended. Not to be outdone, Logan Wilson layed in a pretty alley oop finish. The Cougars held the lead going into halftime 23-18.

The 3rd quarter finished just where the 2nd left off with some high powered offense and suffocating defense from the Cougars. Punctuated by an amazing and 1 dunk from Brendan Stickles and an amazing layin from Jaylen Mullen the Cougars were able to extend their lead to 11 with 1:43 to go. The Cougars would run up the score and lead by 9 37-28 at the end of 3.

The Eagles tried to speed up the Cougars with a 1-3-1 half-court trap, but North Daviess was more than prepared and sliced and diced up the zone for some easy buckets at the rim. Some questionable foul calls on the Cougars led to some free throw buckets for the Eagles as they tried to scratch and claw their way back in. Every time the Eagles would get some momentum however, the Cougars would find a way to answer. The Eagles would come screaming back with a pair of 3’s to get within 1 with 3:20 left. However The Cougars had the resiliency to storm right back with another and 1 from Brendan Stickles and a nifty layin from Devin Collins. The Cougars would hold on and they are on their way to Indy!
