It was the 7th place game in the Bobcat of North Daviess County Classic but it sure didn’t feel like a consolation game. Loogootee fans showed up in droves to see their Lions take on the Forest Park Rangers.

Forest Park came out and took the early lead on some great shooting and tough defense. Loogootee would come back however behind Peyton Bledsoe and bring it to within two at the half. The game would remain close all the way through with neither team ever getting a healthy andvantage. Towards the middle of the 4th quarter Loogootee would begin to post up Bledsoe in the post and pound it down to him on almost every possession. The Lions began to use their size to their advantage and score easily at the basket or get fouled and go to the line.

Forest Park would ratchet up the pressure on D with mixed results and cut it down to just 3 with 36.3 seconds to go and then 1 on a nifty steal off the in bounds with 30.7 to go. These Rangers are tough and they would just not go away. It would be a free throw and defense kinda game from that point on. Brandon Bledsoe would miss the first but make the second and with 21.7 to go it was Loogootee 40 and Forest Park 38. Forest Park would get a great look with 7 seconds to go but just couldn’t finish. However again the Lions could only get one of two at the line. Forest Park would get yet another chance to send it to OT but Reid Howard’s 3 at the buzzer would do everything but fall through the basket. I swear that thing was halfway down.

Final Score

Loogootee Lions 41

Forest Park Rangers 38

Loogootee star Peyton Bledsoe went down with an apparent ankle injury very late in the game and was not able to return. We here as SISN wish him a very speedy recovery.
