In what has perennially been one of the greatest holiday tournaments of Indiana high school basketball, the Bobcat Of North Daviess County Classic has proved once again this year why it is so prestigious. The level of basketball played so far has been top notch and we will all get to see it come to an end Tuesday as North Daviess takes on the Braves of Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian. Both teams come in undefeated and ranked at #2 in their respective classes. This should make for one heck of a high school basketball game.

Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian Braves

Former IU sharpshooter and head coach of FW Matt Roth has his team in prime form. They have wins over Evansville Christian and Brownstown Central in the first and second rounds respectively. They will look to use their size and length, which they have in abundance to try and stymie North Daviess powerful offense. 6’8 sophomore forward Kellen Pickett is the real deal and should be considered one of the top players in Indiana in the next couple years, but it is the Braves depth that can be so hard to defend against. FW has 4 players averaging in double figures led by 6’4 senior wing Gage Sefton.

North Daviess Cougars

North Daviess will have their hands full against FW Tuesday night, but then again when haven’t they this season. North Daviess has played one of the toughest schedules in the state with Sagarin rating them as 95th toughest in the state(out of 402). Jaylen Mullen has been dealing with some nagging injuries, but the Cougars will need him at full strength and playing to the level that we all know he can. Just like FW Blackhawk though, the Cougars do not rely on just one player for the bulk of their production. North Daviess is a complete team. While they may not boast the size that FW has, they more than make up for it with their athleticism and basketball IQ. The Wilson Twins are more than capable of mixing it up down low or shooting from outside and both Lance and Logan are tremendous defenders. Brendan Stickles will need to have a monster game on the defensive side of the ball as he will most likely draw FW 6’8 star sophomore Kellen Pickett. Sticks has had kind of an up and down year but will need to be on his A game tonight defensively.

SISN Prediction

I believe Jaylen Mullen will shine and North Daviess magical run against a brutally tough schedule continues tonight to bring home the Bobcat of Daviess County Classic championship trophy.
