In December, the writers at SISN chose their favorite players and teams to be voted on. This time around we asked for reader nominations of their favorites. We may be a couple weeks into February, but we’re now ready to present the next Player of the Month for January. Here are our favorite nominations we received.
Breckin McCreary, Senior, South Dearborn
“This is Breckin’s Senior year and he unfortunately had to overcome two
injuries this season both obtained in practices. The first injury occurring
before the season started with torn ligaments to the ankle and the second
occurring just a few short games after being released from the ankle injury
with a broken wrist. These injuries consequently effected his ability to start,
but it didn’t affect his determination. Considering these injuries and limited number
of games he has been able to play so far he still finds himself ranked #25 out
of the top 50 for rebounds in Eastern Indiana Conference as well as #27 in
steals. Breckin always gives 110% no matter what and shows a great amount of
sportsmanship. I feel that given the setbacks that Breckin has had to endure
and the fact that he was still able to keep a positive attitude and even
accomplish ranking above his peers who have played triple the games is a great
reason for him to be Player of the Month.”
Colton Leach, Senior, Bedford North Lawrence
“He is small but mighty!! Has a desire to win! Loves the game and his teammates! No, I’m not his mom just a BNL fan that has been watching him for 4 years as got past injuries and came back better than before. He deserves to be Player of the Month.”
Julian Gish, Junior, Pike Central
“I believe that Julian deserves to be Player of the Month because he gets out there and plays hard each game. He brings what he’s got every time. He’s awesome at defense watching him steal the ball is probably my favorite! He’s an awesome 3 point shooter & great at attacking the goal.”
Noah Lovan, Junior, Providence
“When Senior Kaelin was out due to injuries, Noah stepped up to help Providence win multiple games and the Holiday Tournament at Silver Creek. He was also MVP for that tournament. He encourages his teammates to be the best they can be and shows great leadership as well as knowledge on the court.”
Parker Hehman, Junior, Brownstown Central
Beat the school three point record (12 three pointers) and finished the game with 36 points after coming back from a hand injury.
